3 Cute, Easy, and Safe Hairstyles for Gymnastic Competition

3 Cute, Easy, and Safe Hairstyles for Gymnastic Competition

02.10.2019 Posted by TechAdmin2 Gymnastics For Children

Competing gymnasts have a tough job to do. No matter his or her skill level, a gymnast in competition has to channel their focus to perform without making a mistake, all while looking their best to win a judge’s favor.

For a gymnast with long hair, keeping your locks neat and pulled back is essential to performing well. And, since 80% of schools in the U.S. have cheerleading squads, looking good with an attractive hairstyle is a great way to represent your alma mater with pride.

Here’s three hairstyles ideal for looking fly while you’re flying high during gymnastics training, dance and gymnastics class, or the during cheerleading competition:

1. The Reliable Bun

People of all genders who sport long hair value the simplicity and style of buns. Buns hold all the hair in a single place, and offer classic elegance. Try a sleek bun look by pinning down flyaways with gel or hairspray. Add a bow that matches the colors of your competition outfit, or even create a bow by twisting your own hair for a creative, unique look!

2. Detailed Braids

For athletes with especially long or thick hair, braids are a blessing in disguise. Woven styles like french or dutch braids offer athletes security without the weighed-down feel that might come with a thick bun. Try a fishtail pattern, which weaves two strands instead of three for a more intricate look. You can even weave ribbons into braids to complement your uniform.

3. Pizzazzed Pony Tails

Ponytails are an easy choice for gymnastics training or hanging around with teammates at your gymnastics and dance academy. However, for competition, it’s a good idea to dress up your simple ponytail. Add detail to a pony by including a braided element. You can start a french braid above or below your elastic for greater security and polish. You can even wrap a small braid around the base of your ponytail to conceal the hair tie. Use a curling iron to curl the “tail” hair for a fun bouncy look, or opt for a sleek and fierce vibe with the help of a straightener and some gel.

Whether you’re in the middle of an intense gymnastics training session, tying your hair back is essential to maintaining focus and safety. When it comes to competition, however, looking neat and polished will help you win favor in the eyes of the judge. Try these gymnast-friendly styles to look and perform your best at any competition.
